Introducing the CONROLL Conveyor Drive System
Conroll has advanced today’s 24VDC conveying systems to the next level. Conveyor rollers normally have “dead” shafts which serve only to support loads. Conroll has have made them “live” so that they serve a dual function; both supporting conveyed loads and providing motive power. Mounted on precision bearings, conveyor stub-shafts are teamed with a variety of carrying elements – conveyor rollers of almost any material, as well as any desired configuration of conveying wheels. There are no exposed belts, chains or motors. Consequently, there are no pinch points that require guarding and reduce usable conveyor width. Operation is extremely quiet and there is no need for periodic maintenance.
All of the power transmission elements are concealed within the conveyors side rails. Depending on the choice of materials, conveyors can be employed in wash-down areas, in clean rooms and other environmentally sensitive areas.
Key to the system is the drive cartridge hidden within the conveyor side frame. Each cartridge is fitted with a precision ball bearing and drive sheave for Conroll’s proprietary polyurethane 3-rib polyvee drive belt. Cartridges may also be fitted with a slip-clutch for safety or a one-way clutch to prevent package reversal on steeply inclined conveyors. To simplify conveyor construction, pre-fabricated multi-drive modules are also available. All components, including belts, are factory mounted at Conroll. All that a conveyor manufacturer or system integrator need do is attach drive and idler modules to his fabricated conveyor frames.
Low power consumption is an additional advantage, both in the long-distance transport mode and in zone-controlled accumulation. Complete conveyor systems using this new technology are available from several conveyor manufacturers and system integrators.
